Sightseeing (click for more info) McBride, Valemount 

MT. ROBSON Provincial Park interpretive centre is 17 km from Terracana providing hiking and other activities in breathtaking view of the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies.

JACKMAN FLATS Provincial Park is 16 km from Terracana south on west side of Hyw 5. This is a unique area where unique plant life are adapted to a landscape of dry sand dunes and walking trials make this nature reserve a very special place.  

MT. TERRY FOX Provincial Park is dedicated to Terry Fox for his outstanding achievements. Day-use park with viewpoint Mt Terry Fox and hiking access 10km west of Terracana on Hyw 16  

THE HEADWATERS of the Fraser River and many other rivers flow from glaciers in the three surrounding mountain ranges. The Fraser is accessible from boat launches at Terracana, Tete Jaune, Dunster, McBride and 20 km (12 mi.) north of Valemount. 

CHINOOK SALMON RUN the entire length of the Fraser to arrive around last couple weeks Aug to first couple weeks Sept. It is spectacular to watch them swim upstream against currents jumping waterfalls to return to their exact same spawning grounds throughout the valley including Small River at Terracana. Evening float trips offer a great opportunity to see bears, eagles and other wildlife

Robert W. Starratt WILDLIFE SANCTUARY Local businesses, government and Ducks Unlimited cooperated to build two viewing platforms connected by trails across a dike to Wildlife Sanctuary in Valemount. There are numerous local areas are known for wildlife viewing within short driving distances of Terracana.

ANCIENT FOREST 94k west of McBride follow trails through this old growth cedar rain forest with trees over 12ft in diameter. In springtime the air breathes of new growth as mountain top snow melt sends water cascading down waterfalls, by fall our Indian summer paints the forest in fiery red, vibrant orange, crimson and gold.

WATERFALLS & LAKES Rearguard & Overlander Falls are popular sightseeing destinations located on Hyw 16 towards Mount Robson. Moose Lake and Kinbasket Lake have marinas and campsite. Superb fishing can be mostlakes around Terracana including Shere Lake just across the river.Both Kinbasket Lake and Cedarside Park at Cranberry Lake offer sandy beaches, picnic areas & outdoor swimming. Hike up to Little Lost Lake and many other areas offering spectacular mountain scenery. A 2hr 4x4 trip up Small River adjacent the ranch will take you to a spectacular fall. There’s access to hidden waterfalls & lakes too numerous to list.

Take a leisurely bike ride on property or venture 22k up small river to see waterfall. Try Mt. Robson bike’nhike to Kinney Lake, Cycling permitted on the 7 km section from the trailhead to the north end of Kinney Lake. A bike rack is located at Kinney Lake.or get heli drop off on top of Canoe Mountain for a spectacular view and challenging ride down.

For the experienced adventurers, a whitewater jet boat trip is only a couple hours west of Terracana up the Raush River, just make sure your hull can handle hitting rocks and logs.

Canoeing and Kayaking

The Fraser River and its numerous tributaries offer opportunities for experienced paddlers. The Fraser flat water paddling while side rivers like the Beaver, Morkill and Raush have sections suitable for open boats. More kayaking is available in some of the other side streams, but is dependant on water levels and level of expertise.
